Dylan Faden in CONTROL Resonant

Dylan Faden is the playable protagonist of CONTROL Resonant, Remedy Entertainment’s upcoming single-player action RPG. Digital launch is 24 September 2026. Where 2019’s Control put you in Jesse Faden’s shoes as she claimed the Directorship, Resonant flips the siblings: Jesse is missing, and Dylan — once locked away as Prime Candidate 6 — is pushed into an Altered World Event that has swallowed downtown Manhattan.

This page collects what trailers, State of Play segments, and hands-on previews have established about Dylan before launch. It is not a full campaign walkthrough. For systems, pair it with combat, builds, and Getting Started.

From Ordinary to P6

Dylan and Jesse grew up around the Ordinary AWE that reshaped their lives. Inside the Oldest House, the Federal Bureau of Control labelled him Prime Candidate 6 and studied him as a parautilitarian on a scale comparable to historic Directors. In Control he appeared as both brother and threat — briefly hosting the Hiss, speaking with an alien cadence, and forcing Jesse into an impossible choice.

Resonant picks up years later. Preview openings show Jesse visiting a sedated Dylan and driving the Aberrant into his chest before he wakes to an open cell and a city already broken. The Board addresses him in its layered, bureaucratic growl. He is no longer only a file in a glass wing; he is the Bureau’s last workable field asset for a Manhattan crisis.

Playable fantasy

Dylan does not inherit Jesse’s Service Weapon gunplay. His signature Object of Power is the Aberrant, a shapeshifting melee arm that cycles Primary forms (Flurry twin blades, Slash scythe, Slice axe), Secondary forms (Crush hammer, Extend reach weapon), and combo-enders. Preview writers compared the cadence to stylish character-action games: dashes, double jumps, hover windows, and aerial juggles matter as much as light strings.

Progression is boss-gated. Defeating Resonants — remnants of powerful people twisted by the Pattern — unlocks abilities you equip inside The Gap, Dylan’s mind-space opened with Down on the d-pad. That design makes Dylan’s identity mechanical as well as narrative: every major kill rewrites what he can do next. See the Aberrant forms tier list before you lock an opening Primary.

Relationships that define him

Jesse Faden remains the emotional north star. Dylan’s deployment is framed as a mission to take back the city, save his sister, and claw back humanity after years of containment. Her absence as Director creates the power vacuum other Bureau voices try to fill.

Zoe de Vera is the new handler on the radio. Early scenes cast her as suspicious of the Bureau’s monster; later she becomes the partner who understands sidewalks, slang, and civilian stakes while Dylan understands Oldest House protocol. Remedy has cited Firewatch-style two-hander storytelling for their dynamic. She is guidance, not a second player — Resonant has no multiplayer.

FBC allies such as Emily Pope and Simon Arish reconnect Dylan to institutional faces players already trust. Pope’s research framing and Arish’s security presence remind you the Bureau is still a machine with agendas, not a pure rescue charity.

Performance and tone

Sean Durrie portrays Dylan in motion and voice for Resonant. Preview coverage repeatedly notes a mix of competence and awkwardness: lethal in a fight, uncertain about a world he has not walked since childhood. That tone matters for build fantasy. A hyper-optimised speedrun Dylan and a role-play Dylan who hesitates at World Quests can share the same save; the writing leaves room for both.

Creative director Mikael Kasurinen has described themes of identity, power, and sacrifice. Dylan must decide what he will lose to save what remains. The Pattern, Hiss, and Mold are environmental antagonists, but the quieter antagonist is whether Dylan trusts the Bureau that caged him.

How Dylan changes your first hours

  1. Accept that melee is the fantasy — there is no Service Weapon safety net.
  2. Pick one Primary Aberrant identity early and specialise; you will not hold every Resonant power on a first clear.
  3. Treat Zoe’s radio calls as both tutorial and character scene.
  4. Explore Manhattan’s open-ended zones and Bounties when you want side colour, then return to Resonant hunts when you need new abilities.
  5. Plan New Game Plus later for a fourth Artifact slot and carried combat progression, not for replaying traversal unlocks.

Continue with Jesse Faden for the missing Director, Zoe de Vera for the handler bond, and FBC allies for Pope and Arish. Systems readers should open resonants and the Characters hub next. For calendar context, see release date.

Dylan Faden is not a multiplayer operator and not a Firebreak loadout. He is the single-player lead of an upcoming Remedy sequel — still unreleased until 24 September 2026 — and every ranking or guide on this wiki assumes that fact.
